IRIS Adapt Working with our two latest starters

March 14th, 2019

Our 2 new schools for March 2019

Currently we are working with our two latest starters. Ridgeway School is a community special primary school in Warwickshire. All pupils have a statement of special needs for either moderate learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties or severe learning difficulties.

Wennington Hall School is a day and residential school in Lancashire. All pupils are identified as having special educational needs related to their behaviour and have an education, health and care plan or a statement of special educational needs. An increasing number of pupils have social, emotional and mental health needs. Wennington Hall currently holds our record for the fastest customisation and setup process, going from defining their requirements and uploading pupil data to actually logging pupil incidents on the system inside 10 days.

North Lincolnshire Council chooses IRIS Adapt

December 7th, 2018

IRIS Adapt is working with The Virtual School and Inclusion Service of North Lincs council to provide an LA wide system for monitoring the use of exclusions and managed moves within the authority. The system, based on the IRIS Adapt platform, can also be used to monitor the number of pupils on reduced or part-time timetables. Data is captured via a custom designed web form constructed to the LA’s exact specification. Hence there is no compromise on the type, nature or format of the data collected.

reduced timetable monitoring form

Each school in the LA will have its own account on the web based system through which they can enter the data. The system is designed such that the school can use the information for their own internal monitoring purposes. Unlike other systems the data is not ‘sent’ to the LA, rather it remains accessible and updatable to and by the school. Officers in the VS+I service share access to the live data and can track trends and patterns in the use of exclusions, managed moves and reduced timetables.

Oak Trees MAT chooses IRIS Adapt

October 18th, 2018

schools forming Oak Trees MAT

The Trust was formed in June 2017, when a group of Wirral schools formalised their working relationship after a number of years collaboration. There are currently 4 schools in the trust with another one preparing to join. Several of the schools were already using IRIS Adapt to log, amongst other things, pupil behaviour, accidents and safeguarding concerns. Now all the schools will be using IRIS Adapt across the board. The advantage for the MAT is that they will have live access to key performance indicators such as numbers of accidents, complaints etc as well as key pupil demographic data such as % pupil premium, free school meals, SEND categories etc. This is possible due to the unique customisability and information sharing features of IRIS Adapt.

Attendance Feature Now Live for New School Year

September 28th, 2018

attendance form

Users can now mark and track pupil attendance directly on IRIS Adapt. This is particularly useful for small, independent schools and units which cannot afford a full MIS system such as SIMS. With its ability to provide custom data capture forms for pupil enrolment, staff records, accidents, risk assessment, behaviour, interventions and more this latest feature means that IRIS Adapt effectively becomes a low-cost Management Information System for small independent providers.

Talbot Specialist School is our latest Adapt customer

July 9th, 2018

Talbot Specialist School is a maintained school in Sheffield. They provide education for young people aged 11-19 with a wide range of needs including severe and complex learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Talbot has been judged 'outstanding' in its last 2 Ofsted inspections.

The school was looking for a custom system to log pupil incidents and interventions. They had very specific requirements for how they wanted to be able to analyse the statistics. The system has been set up to enable stats analysis by any aspect of pupil demographic data, including FSM, first language, disability type, ethnicity, other medical conditions etc as well as other basic details such as time, date, location, staff.

We look forward to a full launch of the system in September.

Getting GDPR ready with Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation

April 12th, 2018

The new European general data standards regulations, GDPR, are due to take effect in May 2018. These regulations will replace the current Data Protection Act (DPA). Although much is similar to the DPA, GDPR places more responsibility on companies and individuals who process data on behalf of others. The success of our company builds on the trust that our customers and other stakeholders have in our ability to deliver a secure and quality service. This includes our ability to apply a high level of data protection and security in relation to personal data that our employees, customers and third parties entrust to us. Consequently we have taken steps to ensure that we are fully prepared for the new regulations in May.

As part of our preparation, we have conducted extensive reviews of our documentation and data management procedures, including achieving Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. Cyber Essentials is a government-backed, industry-supported scheme designed to help companies protect against cyber threats. Our certification is independently verified and gives our users peace of mind that our defences will protect against the vast majority of common cyber attacks - simply because these attacks are looking for targets which do not have the Cyber Essentials technical controls in place.

Doncaster Council chooses IRIS Adapt to track Managed Moves

March 15th, 2018

Doncaster Council Children and Young People's Services needed to track use of managed moves and part-time timetables by all schools in the authority. Relying on the use of paper forms had all the usual drawbacks; incomplete information, slow response, out of date information etc.

Doncaster Council

The custom IRIS Adapt tracking system we have put in place not only eliminates all the above drawbacks, but also collects more data than the original paper form - and is also more convenient for the school to use. A key advantage of the system is that schools retain control of their data, which can be updated at any time. Officers in the council have live access to in-depth analysis of the data, which makes tracking the use of managed moves and part-time timetables across the LA a simple and straightforward task.

Doncaster Council Collaboration

February 21st, 2018

Adaptsoft is currently working with the Inclusion Team at Doncaster to develop an online system to improve their tracking of pupils at risk of exclusion. The system will be based on Adaptsoft's IRIS Adapt system which is already doing a similar job in two other local authorities.

Doncaster Civic Offices

The system will track the use of managed moves and part-time timetables by schools across the authority. Each school in the authority will have its own direct access to the system which the school can use to log details of their pupils currently on reduced timetable or on placement in another school. Schools can use the system to track pupil progress, log details of reviews and manage the whole process.

Aggregate, and where appropriate anonymised, data will be available to the inclusion team for statistical purposes.

Exceptional Ofsted Report for Piper Hill

January 10th, 2018

teacher and pupils at Piper Hill

Piper Hill is a larger than average sized special school catering for students aged 11 to 19 with significant learning difficulties. The Manchester based school has used IRIS Adapt for some time and is always pushing the boundaries of the systems capabilities.

The school has been graded outstanding by Ofsted for some time, however in the most recent snap inspection in December the school was graded outstanding in all areas with no areas for improvement - a great testament to the skill and dedication of the head teacher and staff. We at IRIS Adapt are happy to have played a small part in their success, well done Piper Hill!.

The school caters for over 270 pupils between the ages of 2 and 19. IRIS' Customisability Finds Favour With Swindon School

October 25th, 2017

We are currently working with The Chalet School in Swindon to provide them with a highly customised information management system. The set up includes behaviour, accident, safeguarding and parent contact logs as well as a specific alerting system. The school caters for pupils aged 3 - 11, with complex learning difficulties including children with an autistic spectrum condition, so having a system that fits perfectly with their current working practices is key.

The school was able to specify the full layout and content of the data capture forms to ensure that the new, online system fits perfectly with the particular language and workflow developed over time by the school. One massive improvement the school is looking forward to is having detailed analysis of all their data instantly, at the click of a button.

IRIS Adapt can now print custom templates

July 5th, 2017

Users can specify custom templates linked to data capture forms on the system. Selected key data from a record entered onto the system (child name, date, teacher comment etc) can be automatically inserted into the template ready for printing. This makes sending notes home to parents regarding accidents, incidents etc a very quick and simple operation.

The templates can include images such as school logos, body maps and letterheads as well as custom text and layout. Any data contained on the original data capture form – or any form linked to it – can be included in the template.
